Situated in the heart of the Norwegian mountain lies this welcoming and comfortable chalet with its roots anchored firmly in the Norwegian folklore and building traditions. The client's wanted a rustic, authentic and natural house that felt like it had been standing there forever, although it actually is newly built. To achieve this, a lot of effort was put into investigating old Norwegian building traditions. Natural materials were sourced for the building process, like stone from Hardanger and pine logs from the valley for the timbered walls. To achieve a relaxed atmosphere a vast amount of antiques was sourced. Some rooms were painted with linseed oil in traditional colours to create interest and charm. Comfortable upholstered furniture was accompanied by luxurious woollen rugs and understatedly elegant fabrics in wool and linen to complete the scheme.
