Interior Design

To Mari, every project and every client is unique. She is a firm believer that great interior architecture and design truly can enhance peoples lives both by making their day to day lives run more smoothly through thought-through practical solutions, but also by giving each individual the sanctuary they need to recharge and find balance through a personalised approach to style.

Every project starts with a thorough client analysis where the formal requirements as well as the more intangible and personal style preferences are laid out in detail. After this, a concept is created to visualise Mari’s interpretation of the client’s preferred style. Then follows the drawing phase, where a lot of work is put into finding the right solutions for space planning, movement patterns, ergonomics and technical solutions such as lighting and home automation. Kitchen design, bathroom design and the design of built-in furniture are normally also a part of the drawing phase. When all these necessary puzzle pieces have found their place, the work moves on to sourcing the right materials, colour schemes, furniture, fabrics and accessories for each project.

As an advocate of unique, personal and soulful interiors, Mari finds herself tired of the mass produced items we tend to see everywhere and their ever changing trends. Similarly, she is also done with the consumerism associated with the design industry in general. Hence, she almost exclusively works with suppliers that produce their products by hand, by skilled artisans working under good working conditions and with sustainable materials and production methods. As well, she sources a lot of antiques and vintage furniture for her projects through a wide network of dealers worldwide. And often, she designs her own furniture quite bespoke for each client too.

As many of Mari’s clients value their privacy, only a handful of her work is shown here. However, references and a more extensive portfolio can be shown to serious potential clients on a one to one basis.
